Dublin Moods, day and night:
Neo-Noir aesthetic:
Ten Minutes shares characteristics with the neo-noir genre, such as its visual style, Kate's voice over as a vehicle to mingle in with the story through the non-linear structure, and focus on morally ambiguous characters and turmoil of the protagonist. Voice overs lend to more swift movements, handheld, close, in your face shots to match the frenzy and flurry of thoughts. The breathing louder. The panic growing because of our lack of visibility beyond Kate, and her lack of visibility in the dark streets of Dublin as they call out for their friend in the nothingness of 4AM. The aim is between Nightcrawler, Kill Bill and most importantly, Shutter Island and her psychological thriller vibes. It will be dark and gritty, the lights and the sounds of the city swelling with emotions as we all, as a group both in and on screen, have our hearts racing at the idea of a woman being kidnapped.
I'm hoping this lends itself to a Feature, expanding the story into a whirlwind of psychological terror and whodunit. I want to use this as a proof of concept for a larger script being written about human trafficking rings and how devious people can be for money. This story, minus the ending, are written into a film story from an essay for a travel mag written by me, based off of a real story of losing Elly in Dublin and the feelings of helplessness, terror and anxiety that come with someone you were right next suddenly being seemingly nowhere.
